To the left is a picture of the Physical Geographer testing the color of the soil at our soil site.
To the right is a picture of one of our Environmental Chemists finding the conductivity of the water which is the amount of dissolved solid particles in the water. He is using the Xplorer. More tests using the Xplorer included dissolved oxygen, temperature, and turbidity. More tests such as pH, nitrates, nitrides, and phosphates were measured using an indicator which was a piece of paper. Flow rate was tested my flowing a rubber duck down the stream and calculating how long it took to move 1 meter and then figured out how much the duck moved per second.
To the right is one of my group members analyzing our air sensors. He is looking at the particulate matter samples collected in one of the air sensors we made and counting the amount of particulates in 8 different boxes.
To the left is one of my group members, looking at one of the air sensors with a magnifying glass. She is trying to identify the amount of total colonies of bacteria and fungi.
To the left is a picture of our construction site during our soil testing day. While at the soil site my group found the temperature, texture, aeration level, moisture of the soil, amount of organic matter in the soil, and color of the soil. The Ecologist collected leave samples to identify in the classroom, and the Environmental Chemists sifted soil and put it into a bag to do more tests in the classroom which included finding pH, phosphorous, nitrogen, and potassium levels of the soil.
To the right is a video of our ecologist trying to identify some leaf samples of trees collected from the soil site.
To the right is a picture of one of our macroinvertebrates collection samples. After getting the objects in this metal bin, we would take out any macroinvertebrates that we collected in this tray and put them into ice cube trays and counted the amount of different macros and amount of each type of macro.
